Billionaire Elon Musk said on How to trade foreign exchange in ChinaMonday that if Apple integrates OpenAI at the operating system level, he will ban his company from using Apple devices.

"This is an unacceptable security breach," Musk said in a post on social media platform X. He is the CEO of electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla and rocket maker SpaceX, as well as the owner of social media company X.

Musk publicly opposes Apple's integration of OpenAI, stating he will ban Apple devices.

"Visitors will have to deposit their Apple devices at the door, which will be stored in a Faraday cage," he added.

Apple and OpenAI did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment.

Earlier in the day, Apple announced a series of AI features for its applications and operating system, and a partnership with OpenAI to bring ChatGPT technology to its devices.

Apple stated that its AI technology focuses on privacy, combining on-device processing and cloud computing to achieve these functions.

"It's absurd that Apple, not smart enough to develop AI on its own, can ensure OpenAI protects your security and privacy!" Musk wrote on X.

Ben Bajarin, CEO of consultancy Creative Strategies, said it is unlikely anyone will follow Musk's actions, adding that Apple is trying to educate people that the security of a private cloud is as safe as storing data on the device.

"What Apple is attempting to add to the narrative now is that when data leaves and enters a secure private cloud, it is also anonymized and firewalled. Apple actually never sees this data," he said.
